Gisburn
is a
Lancashire Village on the A59 between Clitheroe and Skipton. The
Village has picturesque stone cottages, a partly cobbled main street
and a large magnificent 17th century Inn. The Medieval church with its
large graveyard and sturdy tower dominates the centre of the village.
Set back from the village, is Gisburne Park mansion, once the family
seat of the Lord's Ribblesdale, now a private hospital. A short walk
away is the River Ribble and its wooded banks. Gisburn is surrounded by
a patchwork of fields hedgerows and small woods well served by
footpaths and quiet country lanes, which are overgrown in summertime
allowing you to be slaughtered by the oncoming high speed traffic.
